Veterinarians/Owners

Dr. Angela Gerretsen

Veterinarian/Owner

Witnessing daily the relationship between clients and their pets motivates me to continue to develop my knowledge and skills. I believe adding animals to our lives makes us better and healthier people. After hours I enjoy spending time with family, our dog Joy, and cat Lucy along with several pet goats. I also love gardening, kayaking, hiking and reading. Currently I am studying different aspects of Traditional Chinese medicine including acupuncture and herbal medicine. It has been a blessing to work with such dedicated and compassionate clients and team members over the years.

Dr. Glenn Armstrong

Veterinarian/Owner

My family consist of two busy boys, a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel named K-os, two cats – Patch and Speedy Girl –and my wife Sue, who makes sure everything runs smoothly. I originally became a veterinarian to work with animals. What I didn’t realize was how rewarding it is to be a part of the deep bond that forms between pets and people. I am grateful to our clients for allowing me to be a part of that bond.

Veterinarians

Dr. Catherine Cruz

Veterinarian

Cathy is very happy to be back practicing veterinary medicine in the area where she grew up. She will be joining our team along with her furry family consisting of a Poodle cross named Kona, and a 3-legged cat named Peggy. Dr. Cruz completed an Honours Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Western Ontario and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph. She has a special interest in surgery and preventative medicine and is a terrific resource for our team and our clients. In her spare time, Cathy enjoys spending time with her husband and chasing around her two young children. She also enjoys running and horseback riding, where she focuses on dressage. Dr. Cruz will be sharing her medical expertise and time with Coventry Animal Hospital and Mitchell Veterinary Services.

Dr. Justine Rudniski

Veterinarian

Justine graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College at Guelph in 2011. She worked on the Southern shore of Lake Simcoe in a mixed animal practice and joined the Mitchell Veterinary Services team in November 2012. She also enjoys working at Pauly Veterinary Clinic on Tuesdays. Although she grew up in Toronto, she has always preferred a rural lifestyle. Justine spent her childhood summers at her grandparents’ farm in Shelburne, which led to her aspiration to become a veterinarian. She has completed courses on companion animal dentistry and ultrasound and has an interest in Internal Medicine. Justine really loves cats and has two brown tabbies, Tory and Ninja. She bottle-raised Ninja through the humane society in Walkerton while she was on her externship and never ceases to be amazed by his human tendencies. When she’s not at the clinic, Justine enjoys gardening as well as swimming, road biking and running, in an ongoing effort to train for triathlons.

Dr. Stephanie Sharkey

Veterinarian

Stephanie brings fresh leading edge knowledge to our small animal veterinary team. She completed an Honours Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Toronto and graduated with distinction from the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph in 2013. She grew up in Mississauga in a family that surrounded her with animals; inspiring her to work in a career where she can help nurture and maintain a bond between people and their pets. She has a special interest in feline medicine. She enjoys spending time with her cat, “Basil”, and training her German shepherd “Dax” in various dog sports such as agility, obedience, scent detection, and tracking. Horseback riding is a special hobby too.

Administration

Jennifer Roote

Office Manager/R.V.T.

In the more than 20 years of working with animals I’ve learned these truths: pets don’t lie, they’re not sarcastic, nor are they condescending. Animals never say you look bad or have gained weight. They’re happy to see you any time of the day. A pet gives unconditional love that’s unequaled in this world. This is why it’s my honour to advocate on behalf of these wondrous creatures.

Nancy Poppe

Practice Manager

Nancy is the Practice Manager for Coventry Animal Hospital and Mitchell Veterinary Services/Pauly Veterinary Clinic. She has worked with us since February 2003. In the same year, Nancy was recognized by the Canadian Institute of Bookkeeping as a certified bookkeeper. In 2018 Nancy completed the Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) process. Nancy is a lifelong resident of West Perth. She and her husband, Henry, live on a cash crop farm, have raised four children and enjoy their dogs and horses.

She started as a student employee at MVS. After graduating from the Ridgetown College Veterinary Technician Program in 2010, she joined us full time. Her work is mostly in Stratford at Coventry Animal Hospital but you can find her at our Mitchell Clinic on Fridays and some Saturday afternoons. Angela comes to work looking forward to the challenges and triumphs that veterinary services have to offer. She is definitely an advocate of all things best for your animals. Away from work, Angela loves spending time with her pets “Rafikki” the cat, “Lincoln” a big lazy newfie and “Boone” a boisterous beagle.

Angie Janmaat

R.V.T

The animal health field gives me lots of opportunity to learn every day. I enjoy the challenge that each day brings and the joy of a positive outcome. People and pets belong together and I like being a part of that. We all have something special to add to this world and working in the animal field makes me feel good about my contributions.

Robyn Ford-Waldron

Veterinary Technician

Hi! I’m thrilled to be a part of the animal care at Coventry Animal Hospital. As a certified dog trainer and animal behaviourist, I enjoy offering puppy classes and helping clients with their pet’s behaviour issues. I’ve always loved animals and have volunteered and fostered both cats and dogs for the OSPCA. I love animals and being a Vet Tech!

Tanner Cowie

Veterinary Technician

Tanner recently completed the Veterinary Technician program as an honour roll student. She is thrilled to be working and learning alongside the amazing staff at Coventry Animal Hospital. The staff shares the same love and compassion for animals that Tanner does. Having grown up with animals her entire life, Tanner likes to thinks they have taught her how to be patient, how to forgive, how to love unconditionally, and that it’s okay to play in the mud once in awhile! At the end of the day, Tanner loves nothing more than to spend time with her dogs Fairly and Stryder, her cats Milly and Sunshine, her snakes Lady May and Montee, and her lizard Gator.

Client Care

Angie Schneider

Client Care

As a child, I had goldfish, hamsters and cats. As an adult, my fur family are my cats. I say family because our pets do become part of our families, it’s truly a wonderful thing! Our pets give us so much love, unconditionally, and just like with family, we enjoy the time we spend with them, are happy to see them thriving and enjoying life; we grieve when we have to say goodbye. Since working at Coventry Animal Hospital, I’ve also seen and met so many dogs, and have come to love and appreciate them as well. Who knows, maybe someday there will be a dog in this feline mix! I feel our pets are a blessing to our lives, and I’m very thankful for the blessings I have.

Courtney Thomas

Client Care

I’ve always had a love for animals, especially dogs. My love story began when I was only 1. My parents brought home, not one, but two energetic huskies. It continues today, with the latest addition to our family, a mini labradoodle, Severn. These loving, dedicated companions in my life have inspired me to choose a career in veterinary medicine. My experience at Coventry, getting to know all the clients and their furry friends, has reassured me that I have made the right decision.

Lori Scott

Client Care

Having worked both as receptionist and Veterinary Assistant since 1998, I have accepted a new and exciting position as the clinic’s Inventory Controller. When you’re in need of anything I’ll always be there to help. Growing up I always had animals and it is that love of them that makes what I do such a pleasure! My husband Don and I reside in Perth East raising our 2 children Danny & Hailey, while enjoying our new furry feline members “Charlie & Smokey”.

Lynne Harvey

Client Care

I am a relatively new member of the Coventry Animal Hospital team, working as a receptionist and kennel assistant. I have greatly enjoyed all the new friends I have made – both the four and the two legged! Being part of a veterinary team means that every day brings something new, which makes each day exciting. I love meeting new furry friends, and welcoming back old ones. Animals truly bring something special to the lives of those who love them; and being part of the bond between people and their pets is wonderful!

I think I have the coolest job ever, because I get to help all the adorable animals. My dream is to become a veterinarian one day.

Kendra grew up having a passion for animals and has wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as she can remember. Her dog Scooter is her 8 year old furry friend and number 1. Michael Vandewiel

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a passion for animals. Growing up with pets, it made me realize how special they are and how lucky we are to have them by our side. Working at Coventry Animal Hospital has further encouraged me to pursue my dream of becoming a veterinarian as it offers so many unique and rewarding opportunities I would love to experience.

Groomers

Linda Dench

Groomer

I enjoy greeting the scruffy dogs and cats that come to see me. I especially love watching them strut their stuff afterward. How proud they are to hear oohs and ahhs from their family! We’re not so different ourselves, after a new haircut. Helping pets feel their best and helping people enjoy their animal companions for as long as possible, is something I feel really good about. I love being part of all the action.
